Kansalaisuuskurssi

About Kansalaisuuskurssi

An independent course for the Finnish citizenship test, built for you who read Finnish or Swedish as a second language.

Who are we?

Kansalaisuuskurssi is provided by Znoff AB, corporate ID number 559422-8479, a company in Sweden. We are also behind Medborgarskapskursen, the course for the Swedish citizenship test, and the online courses YK Kurser for the Swedish Transport Agency's knowledge tests. We make online courses for public authorities' tests, and we make them the same way every time: the material follows official sources, and every fact has a source.

We are independent of the Finnish Immigration Service (Migri), which organises the test and decides on citizenship, and of the University of Helsinki, which produces the study material and the questions. We do not register anyone for the test, we have no insight into the test questions and we cannot influence your case. Questions about your application and about the test should go to Migri.

Our fact rule

The Finnish citizenship test is new, and many details have not been published yet. That makes guesswork easy: made-up pass marks, "real test questions" that do not exist and test dates nobody has announced. This is what we do instead:

  • Every figure, date and rule has a source at Migri, in the law or at another public authority. The sources are on the page.
  • We never write that the test has a certain pass mark, a certain number of questions or a date that has not been published. When something has not been decided, we say so.
  • Our questions are our own. No question on this site is called official, because none of them is.
  • We write in our own words, based on public sources such as Finnish law and official information.
  • When Migri publishes its study material, or something changes, we update the page and write the date. If you find an error, write to us and we will correct it.

Who writes the course?

The course is written and maintained by Shayan Parsai, course lead and course developer, and has been developed together with an expert in Finnish migration matters. Shayan built the online courses behind Medborgarskapskursen and YK Kurser and works day to day with how people read and search online. You can see it in the course: headings that answer the questions people actually ask, and texts that can be read on a phone.

Written for Finnish or Swedish as a second language

The test is taken in Finnish or Swedish. For many people, the language in the questions is as hard as the facts. The course is built around exactly that:

  • Short sentences and one message per sentence.
  • Everyday words before technical terms. The technical terms are included, but explained straight away.
  • A list of difficult words for every chapter.
  • Questions with an explanation and a source, so that you see what the answer is based on.
  • English chapter pages and guides, so that you understand the content before you read it in Finnish.

What happens next?

The chapter pages, the guides and the practice test are open to everyone. You buy the course with every lesson, every question and the mock test on the page The course.

Migri will publish the official study material by the turn of the year 2026/2027 at the latest. When it comes, we go through the course against the material and write what has changed.
